The Connecticut Senate voted 35-1 in support of legislation to label food containing genetically modified organisms, making it the second legislative body to do so after the Vermont House approved a similar the measure. The vote sends the bill to House Speaker Brendan Sharkey, who is concerned about the possible economic disadvantage that the bill would cause the state. Washington state voters will decide on GMO labeling in November, and California voters already voted no on a similar measure.
