The Chandler's Windmill Suites Hotel in Chandler, Ariz., and the Windmill Suites Hotel in Tucson, Ariz., have been acquired by Noble Investment Group for an undisclosed amount. Noble says it plans to rebrand the Chandler hotel as a Hyatt Place and the hotel in Tucson as a Homewood Suites. Noble also plans to invest $18 million in renovations to the properties.
Dea McDonald, general manager of the Eastmark master-planned community in Mesa, Ariz., says discussions are continuing with Marriott International regarding the stalled project involving a Gaylord-brand convention center and resort in the area. "They intend to grow the brand at some point in time, but it's just a function of the economy at this point. So we're cautiously optimistic that at some point we'll have an opportunity to have Gaylord begin designing the construction of a convention center here at Eastmark," McDonald said.
The Twin Arrows Casino in northern Arizona will include a presidential suite for $429 a night when it opens today. The $200 million casino resort run by the Navajo Nation will have 90 rooms open today, with an additional 110 rooms to be added by 2014.

Construction on a $135 million casino hotel project in Laveen, Ariz., is expected to conclude in 2013. The new Vee Quiva Casino & Hotel, adjacent to the existing property, will include 90 rooms, a 70,000-square-foot casino and seven restaurants.
