InterContinental Hotels Group on Monday opened its 200th property in China, reflecting its continued drive to expand in the country despite a slowdown in its economy. IHG CEO Richard Solomons has stated that the company's goal is to manage properties in 100 Chinese cities in the next three to five years. "We've seen the growth flatten out now, but you have to take a long-term view, which is what we do. It's going to be a very powerful market for hotels in the long term even if there's some short-term slowdown," Solomons said.
