NASA's Kepler space telescope stopped working when it tilted in an unexpected direction and scientists could not get a wheel used to help point the telescope to spin. Engineers have not been able to restart the telescope, sent into space in 2009 to search for other planets. NASA is not giving up on the project, which last year was extended to 2016. Kepler has already found 132 confirmed planets, but none as small as Earth orbiting a sun-like star.
