Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has sent a letter to the Senate Armed Services Committee seeking legislation that would end military commanders' authority to overturn convictions related to sexual assaults. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., is expected to introduce a bill next week that would give military prosecutors instead of commanders the authority to decide which cases to try and would eliminate commanders' ability to overturn convictions.
