The Kickstart Kinetic Orthosis, a less-expensive alternative to robotic exoskeletons, helps those with mobility impairments, such as stroke patients, regain the ability to walk normally. Developed by Cadence Biomedical of Seattle, the device uses springs and pulleys that help propel the leg without the use of motors or batteries.
