In a debate that lasted until late Thursday evening, some Nebraska lawmakers questioned the necessity of a state airplane and whether purchasing it was cost-effective. Funding was included in the state's proposed budget to purchase the $2.2 million airplane from the University of Nebraska Foundation. Until the foundation decided to sell the Beechcraft Super King Air airplane, Gov. Dave Heineman and agency officials used it though a lease agreement.
