NASA's Opportunity rover has discovered more evidence that water once existed on Mars. A water-rutted rock formation, dubbed "Esperance," was found at Mars' Cape York site. "Water that moved through fractures during this rock's history would have provided more favorable conditions for biology than any other wet environment recorded in rocks Opportunity has seen," said Opportunity's principal investigator Steve Squyres.
