The government and employers need to step up and provide services and infrastructure to help men and women raise families while climbing the corporate ladder, writes Anne-Marie Slaughter. She discusses several initiatives that could prove beneficial, including paid maternity leave and flexible work schedules. Caring for a child "is not 'women's work,' " she writes. "It is human work, work that embodies and expresses the love and connections to others that make us human in the first place."
