Several developers now build apartments to cater to renters who want to exchange square footage for proximity to public transit and urban centers. The developers of apartments as small as 380 square feet focus on giving common areas more attractive amenities and finding other ways to draw renters, such as bringing in food trucks regularly, being pet-friendly and offering short-term leases.
