Production of Taiwanese medical devices, driven by strong demand for blood-sugar monitors and other devices, should grow by more than 7% this year and reach $2.71 billion, according to Industry and Technology Intelligence Services, a government research institute. Although Taiwan's medtech production dropped in the first quarter of 2013, the institute anticipates that the sector will bounce back in the second quarter by almost 17%.
