The U.S. power grid and power utilities are a prime target for cyberattacks, according to a federal report that polled more than 150 utilities. However, utilities said their systems are safe, and the security threats are in line with cyberattacks that other businesses are dealing with. "Those are very routine kinds of attacks and we know very well how to protect against those. ... Our control systems are not vulnerable to attack," Arkansas Electric Cooperative's Duane Highley said at a House subcommittee hearing where the report's results were released.
