A roof tile from Dutch firm Roel de Boer is designed to let plants to grow on sloped roofs. Green roofs are typically flat, but the Flowering City system uses a cone-shaped pocket on a base tile so that plants can grow on pitched roofs. The roof tiles can help curb stormwater runoff, and they provide an extra layer that adds insulation to a building, the firm said.
