SoftBank President Masayoshi Son will personally attempt to woo wary Sprint Nextel investors during a U.S. trip this week in advance of a planned June 12 Sprint shareholder vote that will decide whether to sell 70% of the carrier to the Japanese company. On Tuesday, Son may have offered a hint on his pitch, telling Japanese reporters that SoftBank was a better partner for Sprint than DISH Network because of its "large-scale" use of TD-LTE technology, a variant of Long-Term Evolution networking. Also, Sprint directors reportedly have held off providing DISH with financial information because of what the carrier says are unanswered questions about funding and cost savings.
