White patients who suffered an acute myocardial infarction and carry a gene linked to heightened metabolism of clopidogrel were at significantly higher risk of cardiac rehospitalization within a year if they took proton pump inhibitors, researchers found. The study failed to find a similar link in black patients. The findings were presented at a meeting of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.
