Minority students -- African-American, Hispanic and American Indian -- were less likely to receive an autism diagnosis than white and Asian peers from 1998 to 2006, according to a recent study highlighted by reporter Christina Samuels in this blog post. Researchers have no explanation for the difference, but suggest that students in some minority groups may receive diagnoses other than autism or receive diagnoses later than their peers.
