A study conducted by the University of Texas at Austin showed the social networking site Twitter is a reliable source of data about vaccines. The study found that 14% of 2,580 reposted or shared tweets contained medical information, and 66% of those contained information that could be scientifically supported. "In this sample, it appears that Twitter users share mostly reputable information and sources while actively mobilizing others to seek reliable health information," the study authors wrote.
