UltraViolet, one of the most popular platforms for cloud-based home entertainment, is looking to make its debut in the sky. "Typically you'd have the movies stored in hard drives on the airplane but you could create UltraViolet players in the in-flight environment, and have a dedicated player in each seat. You could also provide in-flight downloads, and you'd deliver content within that environment over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to get content to individual devices," said Jim Taylor, who heads up technology for UltraViolet.
