The Common Core State Standards are facing increasing roadblocks from opponents who say the standards are an intrusion into state control of education and teachers and parents who are worried about students' performance on tests. Already, Indiana has passed legislation that requires the state to reconsider its decision to adopt the common core, and similar measures have been passed in other states. The result has been "massive confusion" in classrooms, said Ashley Hebda, a common core supporter who teaches English at George Washington Community High School.
