The U.S Pharmacopeial Convention has opened the Centre for Pharmaceutical Advancement and Training in Accra, Ghana, to provide professional training and deal with the issue of counterfeit and poor-quality medicines, a particularly acute problem in sub-Saharan Africa. The new center "is a natural extension of USP's core mission of establishing public standards for the quality of medicines, foods and dietary supplements," said USP CEO Roger Williams.
