Implementing evidence-based education would improve the quality of education and help schools spend their limited resources more wisely, asserts Robert E. Slavin, director of the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. In this commentary, he identifies four barriers to evidence-based education -- too few rigorous evaluations, inadequate dissemination of evidence, lack of incentives to perform interventions and insufficient technical assistance -- and offers ideas for how to best overcome them.
