Aside from struggling with work-life balance issues, women in the construction industry have had to deal with many obstacles in their rise up the corporate ladder, writes Debra Rubin. At the Groundbreaking Women in Construction event in New York City, top industry leaders urged the women attendees to "stretch themselves" because despite having come a long way, "we haven't seen the end game yet," said Denise Pease, New York City regional administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration. A report by the management consulting firm McKinsey indicated that women are promoted based on their achievements while men move up based on potential.
