Xilinx said its 7-series field-programmable gate arrays and Zynq-7000 system-on-a-chip programmable devices are compliant with the third-generation PCI Express standard, capable of operating at 8 gigabits per second. The FPGAs, made with a 28-nanometer process, successfully underwent testing last month at a PCI Special Interest Group meeting, according to the company.
