Makers of applications apt to be used by youth are struggling to comply with revisions to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) due by July 1. "What we fear is the post-July 1 case where the [Federal Trade Commission] decides to make an example out of somebody who has always been an upstanding company but they misinterpret some nuance of this vaguely written rule," Application Developers Alliance's Tim Sparapani says.
