Advanced Micro Systems is promoting its eight-core FX-9590 processor for use in high-performance gaming PCs, saying the chip can run at up to 5 gigahertz. The AMD FX-9590 is expected to turn up in systems this summer. "AMD has absolutely set a record here in terms of frequency," said David Kanter, a Real World Tech analyst. He added, "I think the challenge is that performance does not necessarily track frequency for modern CPUs."
