The U.S. petrochemical sector is reaping the benefits of the increase in shale natural gas production, according to this analysis. "There's just so much feedstock that needs to find a home. So everybody's saying, 'Hurry up to build something,' because at that natural gas price, it's just pure value," said IHS analyst Chuck Carr. American Chemistry Council economist Martha Moore said she has worked for the chemical industry "for almost 20 years now, and it's always been a story of moderating production. Now we're in a renaissance. Chemicals are at the forefront, but there's a rebirth of manufacturing in the United States. It's a very exciting time to be in the industry."
