Outdoor power equipment maker Ariens will close its plant in Opp, Ala., in a bid to consolidate manufacturing operations. The plant will close on July 26, and production will be transferred to Ariens plants in Brillion, Wis., or in Auburn, Neb., said Bob Bradford, senior vice president of operations. The move will affect 17 jobs. Meanwhile, John Deere's Dubuque Works plant in Dubuque, Iowa, has laid off 65 employees from its manufacturing division due to weakness in construction and forestry demand.
