Artifacts linked to the 1863 massacre of Paiute Native Americans at Owens Lake were discovered by archaeologists in Owens Valley, Calif., last year. Bullets, musket balls, cavalry uniform buttons and Native American artifacts were found in the now-dry remains of Owens Lake by the Los Angeles Department of Power and Water, which was conducting a survey of the area as part of a dust-mitigation project.
