Officials in more than 80 countries helped the FBI and Microsoft disrupt a major cybercrime ring that is thought to have stolen more than $500 million from bank accounts in the past 18 months. The Digital Crimes Unit at Microsoft says it disabled at least 1,000 of about 1,400 Citadel Botnets, which are malicious computer networks that operate worldwide. Authorities still do not know who is behind the scheme.
