Scientists have completed the BigBrain atlas that reveals a 3D view of the human brain for the first time. Katrin Amunts, a neuroanatomist at the Research Centre Julich in Germany, and her co-researchers used hair-thin slices of a brain from a 65-year-old female donor to construct the model that clearly displays the brain's neurons. The model, part of the European Human Brain Project, will be available online through the CBRAIN portal.
