The Nextreme-3 devices from eASIC offer more than two times the performance of comparable field-programmable gate arrays made with a 28-nanometer process and consume up to 80% less energy, according to the company, which is collaborating with Intel, ASOCS and IBS on a design approach that provides the performance, power and cost of application-specific integrated circuits with the design flow and fast delivery of prototype devices that FPGAs offer.
