Six urban school districts are participating in a five-year Wallace Foundation grant program, in which partnerships with universities are part of the strategy for training principals. The program is focused on training school leaders who can both improve instruction and effect change. "The issue is: are there enough qualified principals and qualified candidates for the principalship so that there's enough that a district can choose from so that the principal selected for a given school is the best match," the foundation's educational leadership director Jody Spiro said during a recent webinar.
