The Consumer Electronics Association's Portable Handheld and In-Vehicle Electronics Committee has established the Driver Device Interface Working Group, which will work on best practices and standards for safe driving with electronic devices. CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro said, "Consumer electronics manufactures have developed products like GPS and hands-free Bluetooth that reduce the amount of time a driver must look away from the road. It makes sense to encourage development of these technologies rather than to try to regulate every possible distraction."
