China has a significantly higher number of people living with Alzheimer's disease and age-related dementia, according to a comprehensive analysis of Chinese epidemiological research. The analysis found that all cases of age-related dementia, including Alzheimer's, increased dramatically to 9.2 million in 2010 from 3.7 million in 1990. The findings point to an aging population and the rise of an unhealthy and urbanized lifestyle as possible causes for the increase.
