Chevron Phillips Chemical is using internships, hiring programs and signing bonuses to deal with the staffing challenges brought by the shale natural gas boom. "It's superchallenging right now" as the company builds and expands units, said Greg Wagner, vice president of human resources. The company estimates it will hire 2,500 to 3,000 employees over the next five years, some to replace retirees.
