Disney Channel is hoping the unusual time-traveling plot of its "Teen Beach Movie" will connect with young audiences and potentially revive the beach movie genre. The musical telefilm follows the exploits of two modern-day teenagers who end up in "Wet Side Story," a 1962 flick about conflicts between surfers and bikers. "I challenged everybody internally to find a different way to do a musical. I wanted a reinvention of the musical form," said Gary Marsh, president of Disney Channels Worldwide.
