Fanhattan hopes to create alliances with pay-TV providers and programmers to enable its Fan TV set-top box to become the single such box in homes beginning later this year, when the company expects to release the device. CEO Gilles BianRosa wants to price the box below what subscribers pay to rent cable or satellite boxes, but he needs the cooperation of pay-TV providers. Fan TV will rely on streaming sources, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, to provide an image-rich program guide, touch-based remote control and Web-based links to help viewers search for programs.
