A telemedicine initiative is being tested at Orlando Health that aims to monitor patients at home instead of admitting them to a health care facility. The pilot program accepts patients who come to the emergency room with a skin infection, pneumonia or a blood clot. Qualified patients who have decided to join the initiative will be sent home with telehealth tools, such as a camera and equipment to track vital signs, which they will use when doctors and nurses check them through teleconference.
