The efficacy rate of the flu vaccine in children aged 6 months to 3 years when the vaccine matched well with the circulating virus strains was about 83%, a Canadian study in the journal BMC Medicine showed. However, researchers found that the vaccine still protected the young children even if it did not match the circulating strains, obtaining a 54% efficacy rate.
