Jason Rybinski, a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher in Hammond, Ind., works to establish a culture of trust and respect in his classroom of primarily English-language learners. "All students use 'ma'am,' 'sir,' 'thank you' and 'please.' When the respect is reciprocated, it becomes natural," Rybinski said.
