The combination of smartphone-enabled diagnostics, widespread genome sequencing and other changes in the digital age will fuel a revolution in health care delivery, cost effectiveness and the democratization of medicine, leaving hospitals with a dramatically reduced footprint, doctors with a new way of practicing and patients with a new level of involvement in their care, according to cardiologist Dr. Eric Topol.
