International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde has indicated that Greece's European creditors are warming to the idea of cutting some debt to give the economy a chance to recover. "The assurances from Greece's European partners that they will consider further measures and assistance, if necessary, to reduce debt to substantially below 110% of [gross domestic product] by 2022 ... are welcome," she said in a statement announcing the release of additional funds for Greece.
