Twitter has acquired Spindle, an iOS application that collects and curates Twitter and Facebook posts about local businesses to create what Spindle calls a "news feed for your neighborhood" with push notifications and special offers. Spindle is closing up shop on its current service to join Twitter's offices in San Francisco. "By joining forces with Twitter, we can do so much more to help you find interesting, timely, and useful information about what's happening around you," Spindle said in a blog post announcing the acquisition.
