Lowe's has decided to enter into an asset purchase agreement with Orchard Supply Hardware, which sells outdoor power equipment and other home-improvement products in 91 locations in California. The agreement would require Lowe's to pay $205 million in cash and shoulder pending bills from almost all Orchard's suppliers. Lowe's also will have to acquire at least 60 of the stores that Orchard has in the state.
