The Maine Legislature passed a bill that would ban the sale of corn-based ethanol should 10 other states or any number of states with a combined population of 30 million adopt a similar measure. Another anti-ethanol bill, which prohibits the sale of ethanol blends higher than E10 should two other New England states do the same, has been signed by Gov. Paul LePage. A third bill, which would have lowered the ethanol content in gasoline from 10% to 5%, failed to advance.
