Warmer weather and promotions on spring and early summer merchandise helped spur consumer spending in May, and the nine retailers that still report monthly sales are expected to report a 4.7% rise in same-store sales, up from 3.8% in May 2012. Costco reported the biggest boost so far, with same-store sales jumping 5%, and Victoria's Secret said strong sales of its Pink brand drove a 4% increase.
