Renewable-energy producers in Germany must take a bigger share of the cost of upgrading the country's power grid, said Chancellor Angela Merkel. The country's renewable-energy policy should be revised to keep down the electricity cost with the looming shutdown of nuclear reactors and to build wind turbines in better locations, Merkel said. "I don't want to give up the priority feed-in" for renewable sources, but producers that receive tax supports will need "to participate more in grid expansion, overall supply, storage development and similar things, which means we need an integration of the energy system," she said.
