Michigan high-school students recently used the remotely operated vehicle they designed and built themselves to get a look a ship that sank in 1907 near Thunder Bay Island in Lake Huron. The field trip aboard a glass-bottom boat was the culmination of John Caplis' Shipwreck Alley class about archeological surveying. "The students' feedback showed that they really enjoy the hands-on components of the class," Caplis said.
