NASA briefed potential private-sector partners Tuesday regarding the agency's need for help developing technology to track and redirect asteroids on a path to hit Earth. NASA has already identified three asteroids it could target for redirection, a process that may use a solar-powered spacecraft to lasso and drag the asteroids into the moon's orbit, away from Earth. "The average person is oblivious to the threat. Unlike other natural disasters, we can avert this. It allows us to avoid becoming like the dinosaurs," said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden.
