The country added 175,000 jobs in May to its nonfarm payrolls, compared to a downwardly revised 149,000 in April. The unemployment rate rose from 7.5% in April to 7.6% in May as more people participated in the job hunt. In Canada, 42,700 construction jobs were added during the month -- the most in almost 11 years. However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the construction sector in the U.S. was little changed between April and May.
